I can certainly relate to musical rut syndrome! I would *LOVE* to get
together with some of the musicians in our ranks and exchange ideas.
Over the last 2 weeks I have been slowly developing a new song that
just finally came together this afternoon. The music was half baked
until last Saturday, when I played peices of it for Bro. Al Alcina (a
"lurker" of Higher Fire who is not subscribed, but frequently reads
the archives). He is a very talented trumpet player from Puerto Rico.
His input helped me finish developing the chords and melody for this
song.
Thursday night after service, I was playing a snatch of it for Bro. Al
and my daughter and a friend of hers asked what song that was. They
said it was awsome. My daughter had not heard it before because I
practice with headphones.
This afternoon, I bit the bullet and worked several hours in the Bible
and at the organ and wrote the lyrics for first verse. I wrote the
second verse this evening. I do not think I ever would have taken the
song past the half-baked stage without Bro. Al's encouragement.
