Bro. Ron , Several years ago when my children were younger , I was told
by a Social sercives worker in San Bndo., that leaving a red mark on a
child is considered child abuse. I never felt my children were abused by
spanking them. But, you can hardly spank any child and not leave a red
mark. my children are all adults now and we've discussed child abuse
issues, but, I know the Word of God literally says, Proverbs 23:13 "
Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the
rod , he shall not die. Verse 14 says Thou shalt beat him with the rod,
and deliver his soul from hell. That's a sharp two edged sword!!!! Not
exactly what modern psychology would advocate. Not too many people will
quote God's Word on this issue, but His Word stands anyway.I was raised
in a very permissive home and until I received the Holy Ghost I had a
lot of self discipline problems, I wished someone had corrected me, I
remember as a child really wanting some one to correct me but, no one
did, I do beleive all punishment or discipline should be given because
you love and care for your child not because of uncontrollable anger.
