I wrote in an earlier post about being sensitive to the spirit of
God. I also gave many areas where we might not be sensitive enough
to him. As I thought about it more today, I was reminded of a
situation which I believe Sis Nona Freeman told once.
You see she was at home one day washing her dishes when she felt
God tell her to go out on her porch and start waving to the passing
cars. She thought it was crazy BUT did it anyways. After awhile
of doing this, she went back in to the house feeling embarrased
by the actions. I believe she said it was many weeks or months
later that a man stopped her one day and asked her if she was the
woman who was standing on her porch waving to people? She said yes.
Well the guy explains to her that he was driving to somewhere to
commit suicide when he passed her and because of HER waving to him,
he had a change of heart and did not kill himself.
Another situation occured with Sis Potter from Indiana. She
was driving one day when she felt a sudden urge to pray.
She said she was driving in traffic and really did not know
why she felt this way, BUT because she felt God wanted her too,
she began to call out His name in prayer. Because she did not
know why this happened, she took note of the time it happened.
That night her son called her up and told her how he was in an
accident that day . When asked what time it happened, it was the
same time she prayed. God called on her to pray for her son,
and she said she felt afterwards, if she would not have been
sensitive to God at that very moment, her son might not be alive
today.
AND FINALLY,
(I dont remember who this was , but will tell the story
anyways..)
This person would always go out on their back porch and play
their horn. Nights on end, they kept feeling the need to
go and play the horn on the back porch, and did even though
at times they didnt feel like it. One day, this horn playing
person was confronted by another person which lived a few houses
back from them and they asked, "are you the person that plays their
horn outside all the time?" When they said yes, the person replied,
"Well, I have been down and wanting to kill myself but everytime
I would try and kill myself, I would hear this horn play and it
would keep me from doing it.
In these particular instances, these persons could of chose not
to listen to God or follow these strange request. BUT
because they were sensitive to God, things happened.
The question would be then, how many times have you felt the
need to do something but passed on it and didnt think it might
be God talking to you?
