That wasn't Rev. Dan Walden's from Bell Gardens. He only has
girls. He and Verlaine are very close friends of ours and have been for
years so I know it's not his child.
The Waldon who lost the son is further north in Sylmar. He was 19
or 20 years old and was killed in a car accident I believe. I was
working with a young man from our church last night (Danny Gregory)
who will be playing his saxiphone for the funeral. "Peace In The
Valley" is the sax song the family selected. Danny is the same age as
the boy who was killed in the car accident.
It's very very sad and so hard to understand! I know it won't be
easy for Danny. When my daughter Joy was 12 she sang at the funeral of
a previous schoolmate. The boy was hit by a car in the school cross
walk and I work with his dad at the school district. There were over
1000 people at that funeral and the Lord annointed Joy in that
catholic church where she sang and I guarantee you those people felt
something they'd never felt before. People from my work kept saying
"Man you can really feel it when your daughter sings". It's a perfect
opportunity to witness and 2 people from my work have since come to the
Lord and now attend my church. It was wonderful to tell them they had
been in the presence of the Lord. I have always coached Joy, not only
in voice but in attitude, and to always keep in mind that her God given
talent can be used anywhere for God purpose. That day proved it.
It's hard to understand why things happen but we know God has a
reason. It does make it easier to find out why though in the Waldon's
case we do not know. We simply have to trust the Lord because He knows
what He is doing.
God bless you!
