I joined the Assemblies of God discussion list and
quickly got caught up in a discussion(debate) over
the oneness verses trinity. This is one of the post that
I posted last night.

Proof texting is not the proper methodology for making a point. One can
"prove" anything from the Bible by proof texting.

I write:

I was told to give Biblical reasoning, that is what I have done. If you
want to call it "proof" texting, go ahead. I am only giving you proof that
the
Bible is right.

Larry wrote:

There are far more scriptures that disprove your position, scriptures that
you
appear to be blind to.

I write:
Oh really, where?

Try reading the Word without your doctrinal filters, you might be
delighted by what you find there.

I write:

Funny you would say that, arent YOU doing the same thing by saying that
a trinity exist?

I write:
Here's a little something I thought would be worth looking at.

I looked up a few words in Webster an found this:
Godhead: God.
Trinity: (Christian Theology) the union in one Godhead of three persons:
father, son and holy ghost.
Union: a uniting or being united.
United: to bring together so as to make one.
Three: being one more than two.
persons: as having a *distinct* individuality or personality
one: being a single unit, creature, or thing.

trinity: the union (to bring together so as to make one) in one
(being a single unit{{a single thing}}, creature or thing) Godhead (God)
of three,( being one more than two) persons,( those that have distinct
individuality or personality.)

I know this is not Biblical, but this is how the world views trinitarians.
With that in mind, it looks to me like there is more than one God in
the trinity.

Trinitarian: of or related to the Roman catholic order of the Holy Trinity
formally founded in Rome(1198), having as its principals purpose the
ransoming
of Christians held captive by the Moslems. Today the order is devoted mainly
to teaching and nursing. || Someone who adheres to the doctrine of the
trinity.

This shows that the trinity was made by some catholic assembly. At this
time,
Oneness believers argued against it saying it was wrong and were basically
forced out, but also wanted to leave knowing it was not correct. Oneness
belief
has always been around long before trinity, just look in the Bible. Saul on
his way
to damascus was blinded by a light and a voice came from Heaven saying,
"Saul, Saul, why does thou persecute me?" Saul replies, "Who are you Lord?"
and the Lord replies, "I am Jesus whom thou persecutest."
In verse 22 of Acts 9 we see that Saul shows to the Jews that Jesus is the
Christ.

Ok now lets look at Isaiah 9:7 "...his name shall be called Wonderful,
Counsellor,
The Mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.
This verse is talking about the child which is to be born, Jesus.
Notice it calls him the everlasting Father. God is the father. He
manifested himself in human flesh so he could die and rise again so that
we might have a chance of everlasting life. He is also called the Mighty
God.
I know of only one God.

Isaiah 12:4 "and in that day ye say Praise the Lord, call upon his name
declare his doings among the people."

Isaiah 43:3 "Iam the Lord thy God, the Holy One."
:10-15 "Ye are witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servants whom I have
chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he, before
me
there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the
Lord;
and beside me there is no saviour. I have declared, and have shewed, when
there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord,
that
I am God. Yea before the day was I am he, and there is none that can
deliever
out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it? 15: " I am the Lord your
Holy
One, the creater of Israel, your King.

44:6 " I am the first and the Last and beside me there is no other."
:8 "..is there a god beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any."
Isaiah 45:21-22 show that God is the savior, "..Look unto me, and be ye
saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else."

Read all of Isaiah and you will see Him repeat it many times.
He is God and there is no other. He is the savior.

Isaiah 46:9 "remember the former things of old, for I am God, and
there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me.
Revelations 1:8 " I am the Aplha and the Omega, the beginning and the ending,
saith the Lord, which is, which was, and which is to come, the almighty."

Notice Which is ( presently alive), which was ( manifested in the flesh and
died
for are sins, and then risen), and which is to come( the second coming).

Lets look up Apostolic,
of like or of the time of, the Apostles, spreading the Gospel.

Notice it is not something of a theologist thinking. Straight Bible.
Oneness: The quality of being one.
One: being a particular unit, creature or thing.

What did the Apostles preach? Look at Acts 2:38

Salvation under the one God.
