Well, I have to add my two-cents.
Caryle & I have been married for almost 3 years (in October) and
dated for nearly 4 before that.  In 7 years, we have *never* yelled
at each other.  We disagree from time to time (rarely), but we have
*never* resorted to insults, name calling, etc.  (He is a very
patient person and it rubbed off onto me.)  If we feel the
discussion is heading in a negative direction, we take a "time out"
for a while.  Most of the time, if things are getting that way, it
is due to one of two factors: fatigue or hunger - fix those, and we
don't fight.  :-)
