AMEN! And thank you Bro. Dave! I totally agree with you on this. I
know Jesus told the Pharisees to their faces what he thought of their
practices, but he died for them too, and at least one, Nicodemus,
understood what he was doing and not only questioned him, but also
paid for his embalming, and it was the embalming for a king, which
indeed Jesus was, and therefore very expensive. I cannot prove it by
the scriptures, but I sure suspect that Nicodemus was in the upper
room on the day of Pentecost.
Jesus did not hate the Pharisees, but he did expose their error to
them. I do not see where he did this openly to shame them, but to
make them think about what they were doing. The Pharisees certainly
loved God, as they gave their entire life to his service. It is just
that their worship was empty of the real meaning that Jesus had to
offer. He wanted them to know that, and that he knew that, so they
would consider what he had that they were missing.
We need to do the same with people whose doctrine is not in agreement
with ours.
