Unity's Foe Cont.
Apostolic Standard, Nov. 1994 (ACI)
There's only one problem with that kind of thinking-isn't the bible
ALL true? How can we just find the lowest common denominator to
which everyone can agree to, and label the rest of the Bible
"unessential for unity?"
Many base their quest for true godly unity on an important passage
in the gospel of John. In chapter 17, Jesus is praying for His
Disciples "That they all may be one..." This certainly shows that
the Lord desires His followers to have unity and truly "be one." But
in the very next verse (v.22) ; we see some key word "...that they
may be one even as we are one." How are the Father and Son one? In
Every Way! There are no doctrinal differences; there is no differing
theologies. There exist only complete agreement-ON EVERYTHING!
Only Holiness can bring about true unity. when God's people start
seeking to live, worship and pray according to the word of God, The
God Himself will answer the prayer and make those who seek Him, truly
"one!"
In an age when the great gospel message of salvation is reduced to a
sugar-coated, bakery-item as, "God loves you and has a wonderful plan
for your life!", it's no wonder that TRUTH-LOVING, Acts 2:38, One
God, holiness minded people become a fly in the ointment of false
doctrine.
The entire book of galatians was written by Paul to counteract some
very heretical teaching s that had crept into the church. "I marvel
that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace
of Christ unto another gospel: which is not another; but there be
some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But
though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you
than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed"
(Galatians 1:6-8).
Don't you thing Paul was accused of causing division for such a
strong rebuke? there has always been a need in God's Church to
strongly divide between truth and false teachings. Are we trying in
this late hour to make void the Word of God that proclaims: "How can
two walk together, except they be agreed?" Agreement is the only
agent that can produce unity. A Christian's agreement with the Word
of God will always make of him a daniel that refuses to defile
himself with the king's meat, or a Shadrach that refuses to bow, or a
Mordecai that stands in defiance of the world system, or a Paul that
makes enemies by clinging to and preaching the truth. Yes, it's the
REAL Christian that always fouls up the plan of unity.
