I am probably getting into trouble here for saying this
since it will only further the discussion on music but since
I feel soo strongly against music that is not worship music
I must mention this:
Jesus did not use different messages to reach the lost.
He used one message for all those that would listen.
The Apostles did not use different messages of salvation.
They preached One God salvation by repenting, being baptized
in Jesus Name and being filled with the Holy Ghost.
What does this have to do with music?
We shouldn't have to use different music to reach different people.
I use to hate gospel music a few years ago, I listened to rap, etc.
As I wanted to grow closer to God, I found that gospel music, and
black gospel music I could worship to more. I could not worship
to D.C. Talk, but they had a good beat ;) .
Just because it has a good message doesn't necessarily make it good.
BUt anyways, before I go off on this soapbox of mine, I will
mention that my Bro-in-law(youth leader) has put the youth in
our church on a music fast. No wordly music at all. They can
listen to chirstian music and gospel or music with no words
but have to use caution. I have watched my little sister doing
this fast and during the week I have seen her change on music.
She has not listened to any wordly music like she was asked to do
and she has been even turning off some "christian" music because
she was being cautious. This comes from a 13 year old girl.
Maybe we *all* need to fast from all music except fro worship
music and after a week or so, see how that other music sounds. :)

God Bless,
