I guess this may boil down to the definition of 'Gospel Music'. My
definition is 'Music that pertains to Jesus Christ, either in worship or
the communicating of his message'.
This definition makes no assumption as to the style of the music,
because that is subject to the listener's personal taste.
If we decide that certain styles are unacceptable, where do we draw the
line?
Is bluegrass gospel ok?
Is country gospel ok?
Is Bach ok?
Are Christmas carols ok?
I've seen and felt the Holy Ghost move powerfully in a room with many
witnesses as I ministered with a 'Contemporary' Gospel song. This to me
confirms the fact that there is a time and place for everything, and
there is a benefit to varying the delivery of the message.
You have offered your opinions, but I have seen it work.
Let's consider Acts 10 & 11. Peter was criticized for treading on 'new
water'.
But he said, "What was I, that I could withstand God?".
I appreciate your opinions, but if God uses it, that's enough for me!
