I always enjoy it when foreign missionaries visit our church. They
often times will have a slide show accompanied by a tape or somesuch.
It's really neat seeing the different cultures; I'm especially
fascinated with the different styles of music they have.

When I first visited an Apostolic Penteocostal church, I was *shocked*
to see a bass, guitar, and drums on the platform. With my basically
baptist upbrining, I thought the only instruments you could have in a
church were piano and organ.
Then I moved to Fort Worth, where they had -- imagine this -- an
electronic keyboard and, worse yet, a SAXAPHONE!!!!!!! EVERYBODY knows
that the saxaphone is a tool of the devil (so it was proclaimed in the
1920's).
Really, I was honestly surprised to see a saxaphone in church
considering the history of that instrument. But now the sax is
considered a "valid" instrument to have.
Let's not even mention the opposition faced when churches first began
installing organs and pianos....
