This is a difficult issue.  Personally, I don't really see any advantage of
using shocking or potentially offensive words when preaching against
homosexuality.  I think a preacher can take a strong stand against this sin by
simply calling it homosexuality.  I don't see much purpose in having to carry it
any further that this.

On the other hand...

I once heard a preacher say that homosexuals are not "gays."  He went on to
explain that gay really means happy, etc., etc. and that it would be more
accurate to call them "queers."  I cannot remember for sure, but I probably
responded with an "Amen!"  =)

While we are on the issue...

You have all probably heard a preacher or two talk about the "Adam & Eve vs.
Adam and Steve" deal.  Well, I heard a preacher talk about this with a little
bit of a different, amusing twist.  He said (something to the effect of), "If
Adam would have woke up [after being asleep when God took out his rib] and saw
Steve instead of Eve, he probably would have wanted to heave."
