Not to get overly technical here, but "whore" is an English translated word
of the Hebrew (and no, I don't know what the Hebrew word was).  The Hebrew
word simply meant prostitute, with no profane meaning to it.  That's not at
all like today's English word "whore," with a definite crudeness associated
with it.
