"Prostitute" doesnt have a crudeness associated with it ? The concept
is not profane ?

I think a WHORE is a WHORE, and the sentiment that the word carries is
attached by amplification of a society which has disdained sexual
immorality for centuries.

Undoubtedly the amplification (or profaneness as it is called), is a
service to the term, which might wrongly be considered the name of a
profession, or talent.. like PLUMBER.

Now, HOMOSEXUAL is a word which etymologically derives from a very
recent effort to STRIP the profane amplification from the concept.
Beware the world's desire to parade sin before the church and ask for
its approval, or even the redefinition of the sin with reason of
"compassion" or even "effective witnessing".
