I did not mean for the thread to end and I always have enjoyed reading
what argument some have said in response to any subject. I am seeing a
lot of notes that seem to say the same thing between two or three people.
Since we will continue let me say I am one who is opposed to using street
slang in my pulpit. I will however concede that some, like the afore
mentioned Bro Arnold, are comfortable and effective with the slang.(maybe
we ought to get him online and just see what his comments might be on
this thread- hehe) Bro Mahoney used to call every one a "turkey" which
can be considered derogatory and a serious putdown. On the other hand we
do not need to water down the shakespearean language of the King James to
the point we do not call a whore what a whore is. The thought of a
preacher taking the name of God in vain abhors me but that is vastly
different than calling a sinner by a name that may shock. The scripture
in Jude comes to mind-
Jude 1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
Jude 1:23  And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire;
hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
If some one does not know they are on fire we need to tell them. The big
name TV preachers have shown that they can be so "nicey-dicey" that they
themselves are not afraid to live in sin. We live above sin.
Concluding with this thought. There are some here not UPC. I ask them to
bear with me. Our ministry has been declared the envy of other movements.
Did we get there by worrying how one person declares sin to be sin?
