How is this controversial ? We have had three lectures in the last
year (most recent only a few weeks ago) regarding "chicken cussing".
The comment I'd like to make is that after living for 30 years unsaved
and 13 saved, I am for the first time realizing that "gee" was sich a
word. I've never heard anyone use it in a way that had even a hint of
expletive, and it sure wouldnt do much for the tough guys I used to
hang with.
The education is appreciated, but it seems needful to note that many
people may see language in much the same way. One wonders how
particular backgrounds become the standard for determining good and
bad language, on this subtle scale.
Yes, I cringe when a particular man who is sincere and a seeker of the
Holy Ghost (unless he has been filled in the last 3 hours)
occasionally says something to the tune of "thats a hell of a way to
talk". But, I believe PERHAPS he also feels uncomfortable when he says
these things, YET, when counselling him on how to better position
himself to receive the Holy Ghost which he desperately wants, I have
never been inclined to suggest that he repent from these speech
fragments, any more than suggest that he not wear that dumb string
tie.
I love the purity of speech which the Holy Ghost produces in a
submitted life, but I wold rather preach against beards, than to try
to legislate speech, which is a form of living emission. Bro., I JUST
DONT have the administrative guidelines without becoming culturally
prejudiced.
