Ok ok ok! I have heard a plenty about b(r)ib(d)al colleges! I must give a
good plug for secular education! Yes, I know this may sound a little
crazy, this being a sanctified mailing list and all, but going to a good
school can have very positive benefits!
I go to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. We are a small school (1,300
students), but we have recently been ranked as the *second* best
engineering school by U.S. News and World Report.
So why am I making a plug for the secular field? Well, you see... one
must reach out to the world. If every Christian student goes to a bible
college, then the secular college arena would turn into a worldly trash
pit with no "salt" about it. I think that soo often Christian young
people get soo drawn into the bible college thing. *There is nothing wrong
with that* ,but I think soo many times young people don't realize that
they can do much more than they are giving themselves credit for. I know
I'll probably get flamed hard for these comments, but I am simply saying
that getting a secular education is not all bad- I am having a great time
here in school, and I am still saved! :)
On a similar note, the Christian young person who is facing the college
years should make an honest effort to keep him/her self from going
somewhere that they will be drawn away from the truth by youthful lusts
and the attractions of this world. One of the main reasons I decided to
come to this school (and I am being quite honest with you!) is bec
<<Fire drill - I'll be right back>>
ause there were no girls here at the time. Yes, I was worried that I
might find myself lusting after all the babes and I would only put myself
in danger. Since then we have gone co-ed, but I can definitely tell that
choice has been beneficial! Food for thought I suppose.
Ok I think I have stated my case. I guess I was just a bit jealous seeing
all of these bible college posts and all of the attention given to that,
when in fact there are other colleges to attend! What it all boils down
to is what God calls you to do. I didn't feel a ministry in my life, but
that doesn't mean that maybe someday I will take a course or two at a
bible school (I'd go to IBC, of course! :)))
Hope I didn't make anybody mad ...and I hope you understand what I am
trying to say! But if you still want to flame me, go for it. But do it
privately so Richard and Tyler don't get steamed.
