Ok, let's fire one more "pro Bible college" shot.
First, it would be absurd to say that Bible college can compete with medical
schools for training doctors or law schools for training attorneys.
Obviously, different schools have different purposes. But to suggest that
the ONLY area in which Bible colleges can compete is Bible is ludicrous.
**AREAS WHERE BIBLE COLLEGE EDUCATION
MEETS OR SURPASSES SECULAR EDUCATION:**
1) Training in public speaking. Some of the world's best orators, including
politicians, steal the "speaking" style of the Pentecostal preacher. These
are speaking skills taught in Bible college, but not so much in secular
school.
2) Musical Training. Pentecostal schools, unlike many secular colleges, do
not spend much time learning "pop" styles of music. They start with the
basics of true ARTISTIC music and move from there. Again, Pentecostal music
is among the most artistically done out there, and it's taught in our Bible
schools.
3) True Psychology. While some in the secular world would question whether
Pentecostal psychology classes are on the same level as the university's, in
truth, it's usually only Bible-centered schools that offer a TRUE perspective
of human nature and psychology.
4) Understanding of World Religions. Yes, the secular university has classes
in this area, but with no objective standard of "truth." Bible colleges
compare religious views to an objective standard of truth--the Word of God.
5) Principles of Teaching. The education classes I've seen at both Gateway
and IBC are as good as anything I've seen in the secular field in teaching
about the art of teaching and the art of learning.
6) And of course, Bible.
