At the risk of sounding redundant or stating the "obvious," I would like to
comment on the above post.

Bro. Berger, you make it sound as if Bible College is somehow a more spiritual
choice and those of us who chose to attend a secular university instead somehow
do not have our priorities right. The choice between Bible College and a
"secular" university is not the same as the choice between "serving God or
serving mammon!" I think that it is sad that this type of attitude could exist
in the church. Let's look at a hypothetical situation for a moment...

There is a young person who has just graduated high school. He has a desire to
study a particular field (let's say Business, to use your example) at a secular
university, but he also feels the calling of God upon his life to be a minister.
What should this young person do? Should he go to a Bible college, or should he
go to a university?

Some, undoubtedly, on this list would say that the only logical choice is to go
to Bible college. Why is this? The young man could (I am not saying he SHOULD)
just as well go to the secular university and STILL prepare himself for and
become active in the ministry. One road is not better than the other. There
are many variables to take into consideration such as the individual making the
choice, the type of ministry that he feels a calling for, etc., etc., etc.

Let's not put unnecessary pressure on our young people be it to attend Bible
College or a university, although I am of the opinion that a young person should
go to one or the other (or, ideally, both) because education is important.)
Instead, lets be supportive of the individuals desires and help to lead them
into the will of the Lord (which is not the same for every person, whether they
be called to the ministry or not).

Yours in the King of Righteousness, Christ Jesus the Lord,
Bro. Kirk
