Bro Shaw,
First off, I am a member of a UPC church. I still feel
the need to reply to your posting though. I talked awhile back
about this unity thing between oneness believers. Do you know
of the Pentecost Sunday service that is held every year at the
Indiana convention center? This year, it was open to anybody
and was attended by ALJC, PAW, and UPCI members. I dont remember
the preachers name from the ALJC, but I do know that Bro Mooney
preached for the UPCI. Bishop Boulder, and Bishop Tyson preached
for the PAW. The main emphasis in this service was unity between
Oneness believers. At one point in the service, Dr.Leonard Scott
of Tyscot records was singing and had black brothers in the crowd
to join up with a white brother and sing together. Same thing
for the sisters. The sight was awesome. Blacks and white joined
together singing, holding hands, and at the end of the song, prayer.
This was a major push for unity between the groups.
My personal thoughts are that the different groups of Oneness
believers will never join together and form one organization
but the unity of the groups will draw closer together.
Example, my church has had Bro Lee from Crawfordsville, IN
preach at our church a few times. Our youth group has been invited
to attend the youth services at Bro Lee's church. Bro Lee is PAW
while my church is UPC. So, you might not see the efforts in
unity but they are there. Indiana is just one example, but I am
sure there are many other churches across the US and the world that
are pushing the effort of unity.
God Bless,
Chris Sterrett
