No, these are local situations you are commenting on. it would be
wrong to assume that the ALJC as whole is more or less standards
oriented. There are people in the UPC who have no standards at all,
and would complain at some baptist concerns. Yes, they were supposed
to hae signed ministerial affirmations and all, but things vary from
person to person and from area to area.
Generally, I believe the UPC is much more effective government and is
committed to providing excellent Bible teaching and increasingly
unified fellowship. Some other groups may be regressing in this. A/G
for example, barely exists anymore as a fellowship that holds men to
particular subjection. In other words, you have the likes of Swaggart
and Baker, and others representing personal empires.
Some think this is great, and liberty is the buzz word. I believe that
the early church was a very highly organized body and that separate
administrations developed early and have always been in the will of
God for practical purposes. Men MUST be subject unto one another in
the spiritual bond of truth however. Administration which does not
accomplish this goal, and does not protect, identify and strengthen
its constituents is deteriorating, and will die. Conversely, the
progressive church increases in intensity, and governments are well
applied.
Some people have problems with organization because of jealosy, or
lack of ability to live in subjection, or sometimes preacher-religion
drives people to separate orners. Our government has been GREATLY
blessed of God by the anointed wisdom of NA Urshan, and other fine
men, who have held these deadly aspects to a minimum.
