Bro. Decker,
In response to your question re: Liberty Univ., I
have to go back to 1985. I was working full-time
for the church, had a family of 4, and the closest
university was about 75 miles away. Because
of the fact that I could work at my own convenience,
testing when I was able to squeeze it in, it worked
absolutely great for me!
The school did require 2 different residencies
(1 week at a time on campus). That was the
highlight of my post-grad education. Their
counseling program is top-notch, professional,
and they work with local (to you) mental
health practitioners for your internship.
When I was first inquiring about the local
internship programs, one of the counseling
center directors (told me later) that he wanted to
interview me "for the fun of it" because he thought
L.U.'s program would probably be something to get
a good laugh at. He later confessed to me that he
was more impressed with my interview than with
any of the other 12 students he was supervising...
and he gave L.U. the credit (I just happen to know
God had much to do with it also!). I ended up
working under him for 9 months.
In retrospect, I don't believe I would have been
able to complete a masters program had it not
been for Liberty University.
