You wrote me personally: <<I hope you don't mind me asking, but when did you
come to the Jesus Name message?>>>>

II was *born* in it. In 1923, when I was not yet 5 years old, a lady
Evangelist pitched a tent in Caldwell, Idaho and began preaching PENTECOST
and JESUS NAME baptism. My dad became furious, and vowed to *put the woman
in her place*. If the bunch of preachers she had in the congregation
couldn't do it-- he would do it himself. The only *hitch* was, that while he
was studying to prepare his *offense*, he received the revelation himself.
Being a man of staunch integrity, he began walking in the new found *light*
he had received. The cost was very high. He and Mama promptly got the *left
foot of fellowship* at the little Baptist Church they had helped build.

<<<<< I'd be very interested in hearing your testimony>>>>>

I did not get really serious with the Lord until my late teen years, though I
considered myself a Christian from age 10, when I first gave my heart to the
Lord.

On April 1, 1938, I received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. With it, I also
received an insatiable hunger for the Word of God. I simply COULD NOT
SATISFY the hunger. Five days later, I got a clear *call* to the Ministry of
the Word.

I met Pearl in Bible School November 1938, and we were married July 20, 1939.
We began our Pastoral Ministry in December 1939.
In 1954 we began to publish and mail what we called a *midweek call to
worship*. It eventually went nation wide. It has now been replaced by a
monthly publication called Emmanuel Ministries.

In *pre-UPC days, I was a member of the PCI until the merger of it with the
PAof JC to form the UPC. The ratification in our district took place in
Montesano, Washington in 1945.

We do not minister publicly any more, since I have become profoundly deaf.

<<<<<I hope I didn't offend you by sending this privately>>>>>

Indeed not!!! Fact is-- that is the ONLY WAY to contact me at present. The
mail at HIGHER FIRE had grown to such volume that I could not keep up with
it. But Richard Masoner has asked me to continue contributing what I can, so
I still do.

Also, one of the good brothers has volunteered to make up a Web Page which
will feature my writings, and make them available to *whosever will*. I
deeply appreciate that gesture. Try as I will, I can not figure out how to
create a Web Site. I guess I have *watched the sun go down* too many times.
 :-)

God Bless!
