Sister Elkins,
You are precisely right! Holiness *is* absolutely a condition of the heart
in relationship to Jesus Christ. We cannot reduce it to (or emphasise it as)
a set of do's and dont's. Outward holiness (standards) are directly related to
(and fruitless without) our walk with God.
As I stated in my first post, there are varying degrees of holiness (outward)
in our UPC fellowship. I have been to several churches that do not hold the
line on make-up, jewelry, movies, etc. This is, as you have said, Sister Kim,
not a product of the UPC but of a lack (either ont the part of the ministry or
the church) of perhaps teaching, obedience, etc. I know of several independent,
Apostolic churches that observe more holiness standards than any UPC Church
I am presently aware of.
Be careful, dear Bro. Chris, of marking an entire fellowship based on the
comments of two of its so-called members. What would some people think of
the UPC if they spoke to some of our 'looser' brethren?
Sister Kimberly, are you any relation to Crystal Elkins (fomrely of Bro.
English's church in Harrodsburg)?
