There comes the confusion again: netcom internal stuff is *NOT* the
internet; it is *NETCOM*.

Like I said before, I suspect that the ones concerned about the
internet do not even know what it is other than what they read in the
news last spring, or whenever it was.

BTW: That famous porn study got it high percentages by counting the
ratio of alt.binaries.* groups that were actually visited by
subscribers to a certain ISP (I forget which one, maybe AOL?) against
all the visits made to alt.binaries.*. Why that is not even a large
percentage of USENET, never mind FTP, WWW, email servers, mailing
lists, etc.

Our legislators wasted many hours of time debating this issue,
thinking all the while that most of the internet was filth! IT IS
NOT!

They even proposed several bills that would seriously impact our
constitutionally granted freedoms. I suspect that the publicity of
election year was part of this, but could some of it have been an
attempt to fool us into becoming less free? We need to watch this
stuff very closely, because we know the man of perdition is right
behind the curtain already.
