Bro Robert Brown,
I must say that your points made were good valid points. I might also
add that I indeed was playing much of a devils advocate while asking those
questions. You see, I am *for* the internet. I don't use it for the same reasons
you do or the next brother or sister do, but I still the same, use it.
A little about me,
I was that shy guy throughout junior and senior high school. The reason?
Because I moved in the middle of 6th grade and found it hard to relate to
those new people around me. I went from a loud mouth elementary kid to
a quiet and shy one. I never did fully recover from this. Yes, I had many friends
and many were probably not the best for me. I played sports and that helped me
become friends with many more people. Well to cut a long story short, when I
became introduced to the internet 2 years ago, I found a *very easy* way to
witness to others. I didn't have to face this person. I was behind the protection
of a desk, computer, Bible and prayer. Because of this, I have grown to be a
more open talker, not just on the internet, but in person too. (Being a manager
at McDees helps too with the comunication skills.)
I have also grown spiritually because of the internet. I have been able to come
in contact with many other oneness Apostolics (such as yourself, higher-fire, IRC,
and those great looking UPC church web pages!) and talk to them openly about
questions regarding our belief, asking prayer around the globe within a few seconds
of time, and just having personal conversations regarding the future, etc.
So you see, not only has the internet helped me *a lot*, I know that someone, somewhere
has benfited by my witnessing to them.
NOW, back to the main issue. I posed many of my questions as questions that
"might" arise if and when this issue comes to the forefront of the genreral assemby.
Those licensed UPC preachers, pastors, etc on here need to be ready for the
onslaught of questions regarding the internet and be able to defend them as Bro
Robert did here.
I think if anything, the internet needs to be broken down piece by piece so that
if a ban did take place, the positive parts of the net could still be used. What are
the positvie parts? I do not know. I use e-mail, ftp, IRC, WWW, and have web
pages posted. Everything I have on the net, I consider to be used in a spiritual way.
e-mail for higher-fire and personal correspondance. ftp to download bible studies, sermons,
etc. WWW to display my church's info and to browse the other fine oneness Apostolic
sights. IRC for the famous #Apostolic channel!
I am now going to play the devils advocate one more time and ask this question:
Shouldn't we then use the tv for broadcasting sermons via satelite to the whole world?
Well, enough for that, I would hope that the UPC would have vast knowledge of the
internet subject before discussing it and take to heart what is said by those ministers
who use the internet today.

>Can you footnote that statement with documented references? Are you
>sure that you did not mean Charismatic Pentecostals? Who did the
>survey and normalized the results? What is meant here by the word
>"growing"?
I stand corrected, I asked and yes indeed, it was the Charismatic
Pentecostal movement.
>The point is this: George Orwell wrote the book "1984" about a society
>whose every move was watched by "big brother". They had these devices
>called telescreens everywhere. The government could monitor
>everything you did or said.
Last year, I ran across a web sight that was suppose to be in canada somewhere.
There was pictures on this sight which showed tv cameras on every street post
that monitered street activity. It was said to be there to deter crime.
>I believe that we are "wiring the world for the beast". I am involved
>as a worker, and this gives me the ability to monitor the progress on
>this project.
Bro Mike Chance made a very interesting point at MARC conference. He said
he was called one night from "our" headquarters hotel for Gen Conference. It wa
a young girl calling and behind her was much noise. He thought she was at church
but she explain she was at a satanic meeting and they were praying. She started
talking to Bro Chance about the internet and how it was indeed the path way for the
"chip". She also talked to him about their messiah. He was a guy named Christopher
that lived near Germany. She believed that this man was her savior. Bro Mike Chance
told her that we would call him the anti-christ, but she denied it.
The point was, she talked about the internet being the gateway. What a better way
to get the anitchrist up close and personal with everyone than via the net? Better yet,
look up all those "Jesus" people and do away with them. We can't have those Christians
around slowing down the process.
The internet, the gateway to the world, and its end.
But HEY, lets use it while we can and preach salvation to some lost souls!
>We are so close to the end of the Church dispensation!
AMEN!
God Bless,
Chris Sterrett
