Christmas Paganism

hehe to me this song is one of the most stupidest Christmas songs I have
ever encountered. So who cares if the Christmas tree leaves are green even
in Winter. Oh well...anyway, I wanted to mention something about the Santa
Claus thing. I always thought Santa Claus is the guy called in German
"Heilige Nicolaus" a bishop who gave gifts to the poor (don't ask me
when)...anyway his day is celebrated December 6th and every child (and even
some grown-ups) get their boots filled with candy. On Christmas-eve the
"Christkind" or "Christ-child" delivers the Christmas gifts to the children.
I am fully aware of the pagan origin of Christmas and stuff, but I think it
is a cute reminder of that special day on which Jesus was born (which ever
day that was, during whatever season that was). I have no problem whatsoever
with Christmas and Christmas trees except the commercialism that it has
turned into and that people nowadays write X-mas instead of Christmas. To me
Christmas-eve is a special day with my children on which we have a wonderful
time thinking about just what happened on the day Christ was born. :) God
bless Doris.
>You all ever wonder about the song, "Oh Christmas tree"?
>Sounds to me like they are worshipping the tree when sung.
>*laughing but still curious of what the song is *really* about*
