Concerning split ends, I would add that the Scripture says:
'For if the woman be not covered let her also
be _shorn_: but if it be a shame for a woman
to be _shoren_or_shaven_, let her be covered'
(I Cor. 11.6)
Notice that there is a distinction between shorn (having cut) and shaven (having
been shaved), but both are wrong. It does not matter whether you cut of the
tiny, damaged millimeter at your waist or whether you shear off the whole
length right to your scalp, God seems to view both actions the same way.
Certainly, every woman with uncut hair will acquire split ends, but she
can maintain the health of the hair through proper conditioning and attention.
Those with severely damaged hair seem most often to be the victims of bad
perms or a decade (or 2, 3, etc.) of hot rollers. It is important to take
care of long hair to avoid the unsightliness of hair damage.
All Honour to Christ Jesus,
Matthew Shaw
