I believe that your prof. is correct: Freud created a religion based
upon Darwinism. He intended to have something the "masses" felt was
more compatible with their old, now destroyed, faith(s).

Darwin, on the other hand, created a "scientific" theory based on a
religion: Hinduism. Hinduism *POSITS* evolution, not of just life
forms, but of everything, including the very substance of the universe
itself. Darwin, an Englishman, wrote his book at a time when England
had rule over India. As such, it was fast becoming fashionable to
hold "Eastern" beliefs.

The roots of the New Age movement today are in Hinduism, and its
offshoot, Buddhism, which is quite alive and influential in the world
today. Indeed, President ... you know ... Hillary's husband ...
whats-his-name, well anyway, he recently met with the Dali Lama,
the high priest of Buddhism, from Tibet, the contested territory of
Communist China.

The Beatles completely changed their musical and lyrical style after
John McArthy spent nearly a year in India studying under a Guru.

The interesting thing is that Hinduism is not endemic to India even
though that is where it now flourishes in its greatest strength.
Hinduism was imported along with the invading Aryans, who came into
India from Persia. The Persians, in turn, got most of the principles
>from Babylon and Nimrod. Hinduism and its popularized form, the New
Age movement, is just good old fashioned Baal worship! So is
Darwinism, and by implication, Freudianism.
