Bro. Steve (if you will permit me to address you thusly):

I wish to appologise to you if the above posting offended you. It was
not posted to say that this was indeed the case, but more to suggest
that the interpretation made by Bro. Chriss needed to be reconsidered
in the light of a possibility that had heretofore been not considered
to my knowledge.

I was not saying that you were suffering from bipolar disorder. I was
suggesting to Bro. Chriss that he had perhaps been too swift to condem
you for some of your postings, and that what he found offensive may
have not been properly understood.

Nevertheless, your blunt statement, "Hmmm... another liar", suggests
to me that you may perhaps disagree with me regarding the distinction
between "lunatic" and "demon possesed" which I inferred from the
scripture:

 24 And <2532> his <846> fame <189> went <565> (5627) throughout
<1519> all <3650> Syria <4947>: and <2532> they brought <4374> (5656)
unto him <846> all <3956> sick <2560> people <2192> (5723) that were
taken with <4912> (5746) divers <4164> diseases <3554> and <2532>
torments <931>, and <2532> those which were possessed with devils
<1139> (5740), and <2532> those which were lunatick <4583> (5740), and
<2532> those that had the palsy <3885>; and <2532> he healed <2323>
(5656) them <846>.

      1139 daimonizomai {dahee-mon-id'-zom-ahee}

      middle voice from 1142; TDNT - 2:19,137; v

      AV - possessed with devils 4, possessed with the devil 3,
           of the devils 2, vexed with a devil 1, possessed with a devil 1,
           have a devil 1; 13

      1) to be under the power of a demon.

      In the NT, these are persons, afflicted with especially severe
      diseases, either bodily or mentally, (such as paralysis, blindness,
      deafness, loss of speech, epilepsy, melancholy, insanity, etc.)
      whose bodies in the opinion of the Jews demons had entered, and so
      held possession of them as not only to afflict them with ills, but
      also to dethrone the reason and take its place themselves;
      accordingly the possessed were wont to express the mind and
      consciousness of the demons dwelling in them; and their cure was
      thought to require the expulsion of the demon.

      1142 daimon {dah'-ee-mown}

      from daio (to distribute fortunes); TDNT - 2:1,137; n m/f

      AV - devils 4, devil 1; 5

      1) a god, a goddess
         1a) an inferior deity, whether good or bad
      2) in the NT, an evil spirit

      4583 seleniazomai {sel-ay-nee-ad'-zom-ahee}

      middle voice or passive from a presumed derivative of 4582;; v

      AV - be lunatick 2; 2

      1) to be moon-struck or lunatic
      2) to be epileptic
        2a) epilepsy being supposed to return and increase with the
            increase of the moon. This meaning is doubtful as the
            Greeks knew nothing of epilepsy.

      4582 selene {sel-ay'-nay}

      from selas (brilliancy, probably akin to the alternate of 138,
         through the idea of attractiveness);; n f

      AV - moon 9; 9

      1) the moon

      5740 Tense - Present                     See 5774
           Voice - Middle or Passive Deponent See 5790
           Mood  - Participle                  See 5796
           Count - 544

So the distinction is definately between symptoms caused by devils and
symptoms not caused by devils, at least as far as I can tell from the
scripture and the associated word study.

Were you calling me a liar because you believe that this distinction
is not real, or because you thought I was calling you crazy? If it
was because you thought I was calling you crazy, or worse yet, demon
possesed, then I appologize that I so poorly expressed myself that my
real idea was not made evident. If, on the other hand, it was because
you disagree with my interpretation of this scripture that there does
exist a distinction between mental illness and demonic posession,
would you please explain your interpretation to me, and help me to
understand it, for I make no claims of perfection regarding scritpural
interpretation:

 20 Knowing <1097> (5723) this <5124> first <4412>, that <3754> no
<3756> <3956> prophecy <4394> of the scripture <1124> is <1096> (5736)
of any private <2398> interpretation <1955>.

Thank you. I am looking forward to your reply.
