The Fall

Part 2

I remember hearing Jesse's voice brake as he stood during testimony service
on that Sunday night. He seemed both excited and a little scared at the
same time. He told the church about his search for truth class and also
about breaking his foot the previous Thursday afternoon at school. He began
to cry as he told the church about how he had told the crowd in the lunch
room that God was going to heal him and how they had laughed at him. with
this he began to cry. At first everyone in the church thought that it was
because he was afraid he was going to look bad if God not heal him., but he
explained that he felt frustration because they did not believe in the
Bible. The Pastor (Bro. David Theobold) looked a little concerned but
instructed Jessie to come forward to be prayed for. Jessie left his
crutches on the pew and walked with a bad limp to the front. I looking
over the church as Jessie made his way to the front . The looks he got did
not seem to me to looks of faith but looks of sympathy. Bro. Theobold
prayed for him and the rest of us just bowed our heads silently. At the
of the prayer Jessie was full of smiles. I noted with discomfort that he
seemed to limp with the same grimace of pain on the way back to his pew
that he did as he walked up. I also remember the pastor instructing the
usurer to put Jesse's crutches in the church closet. Jessie had left them
on the pew when he left the church headed for home!

Later I Jessie told the church of his going home ,getting an assortment of
hand tools together, Hammer, pliers, wire cutters etc. And pileing them up
next to his bath tub, He undressed got in a bathtub filled with water and
began removing the cast. He stated that while he was removing the cast that
his step Dad (Troy Johnson) came home from his normal weekend drunk and had
a fit. Jessie said that his dad had screamed and called him a fanatic. but
after screaming and whipping with his western belt for awhile left with the
final words that he (Jessie) was stupid and that he (Troy) would not pay to
have another cast put on. Jessie told him it was no problem that God had
healed the foot anyway! After Troy left Jessie finished removing the cast.
Jessie sat in the tub and looked at his bruised purple ankle . He later
admitted that as he sat in the tub filled with peace's of cast looking at
His foot he was fearful that he had made a bad bad mistake in judgment
after all who ever heard of god healing a busted ankle before?
