Subliminal messages

Someone posted earlier mentioning a rumor about "the Lion King", and other 
Disney kid films containing subliminal sexual messages.  The list might be 
interested to check out todays (10/24/95) _Wall Street Journal_, which ran 
a cover story on the very subject. The article shows that the rumor is 
baseless, and probably began in certain Evangelical circles which, like the 
"Proctor and Gamble are satanists" rumor, spread like wildfire.

I'm not defending Disney - there is plenty of non-subliminal garbage that 
they and others put out which is un-healthy, not to mention un-godly - but, 
I think uncritical acceptance of such rumors (especially secret messages) 
can be embarrassing.  As RichardM's post about the "numbers game" 
beautifully illustrates.
