You are wise to refocus. It seems rational that improper messages
might be broadcast by the world. What was remarkable of late, is that
Disney was assumed to be lilly white, and invited without question
into Christian homes because it used animated animals. Very strange!

I've been watching the general conference tapes on a VCR and enjoying
every minute of it. Are we going back to labeling machineryt as evil?
You know I encounter people unfamilliar with the 'net who, while they
will ignore the underwear ads in their morning paper, believe that we
are sitting at "pornography machines" because of all the concern about
porn on the internet?

Virtually all the produce of Hollywood and related industries is
manufacturing *entertainment* suited for the tastes of the carnal man.
Should it surprise anyone that these include sexual inuendos? As a
youngster in elementary school 35 years ago, it was the rage to come
up with that stuff. Ought those of the same age who have grown up to
own the industry which weaned them not remember that kids minds react
to this?

It is only the scale of activity and amalgemation (as one man recently
reminded us), that raises concern. Why should ANYONE, EVER have
trusted Disney, the YMCA, or the US public schools to convey a message
fitting the mind and heart of a child of God? Tax dollars and
expensive tickets to not buy the path to heaven.

And, to answer the implied question, yes, my kids have watched the
occasional Disney video over the years. And YES, I believe in holiness
standards. We have no broadcast TV, no routine of rental or other
means of accessing the worldly stream of filth.

Bro. Griffin, I commend you in making the right decision in these
matters.

However, I have observed something, and HOPE it doesnt make people too
uncomfortable to talk about, or issue and invitation for another wave
of kamikazee messages:

That is, people in areas where large scale revivial is taking place in
this country may tend to keep their TVs for a while. While a measure
of spiritual health an individuals capability to respond to
preaching, more and more, preachers are asking saints to make their
own decisions from the word of God rather than spelling out "Get rid
of the TV". Kids show up in church with these stupid haircuts, and we
sometimes regret that Sister Shepherd did not yet teach "Necklines
101" this year. In other words, open doors mean live people. Either
live people are not always the sheep they are supposed to be, or some
of us don't know much about sheep.

The bottom line is, there are perhaps more than one way to look the
meaning of saints not immediately responding to preaching on holiness.
my experience is, that in socially progressive areas of the society, a
positive response to a positive message of holiness is as meaningful
as the Holy Ghost infilling itself, and cause for great excitement.

I greatly appreciate men who will preach with fire and resolution
regarding absolutes of church standards, but am also interested in
seeing a higher yeild, and lower "hypocrite fallout" (i.e.
self-condemned who pretend to follow standards in public ... two
wardrobes ...etc). Loosing people and separating tares is not one of
our goals.

Holiness must envelop the believer in and out, being the character of
the spirit and name which joins him to the Living God.
