Death before Eden?

As a scientist, I am often faced with data from geology and anthropology
which claims that there were animals on the earth that lived and died
hundreds of thousands of years ago. Yet the Bible seems to say that Eden
existed approximately six thousand years ago. The question I ponder is -
was there death before Eden, or did death come into the world only as a
result of Adam's sin? How can we reconcile the fossil record, if we believe
it, with what the Bible says in Genesis.
I have some ideas - would you like to share yours :-)

 End of original message --------

1). Some people use Is.14:12-17 for a "pre-Adamic" existence on earth.
Was this refering (vs 17) to Lucifer and him making the world as found in
Gen.1? Or does it refer to what the Anti-christ will do to the earth via
nuclear war?

2). In response to fossils, has anybody read some of the writings of
"creationist" scientists about the eruption of Mt. St.Helen? Basically,
what they show, and prove, is the destruction of the area surrounding the
volcano equals destruction and aging as found in fossils or the sedimentary
levels in earth.
What the tidal wave from mirror lake did to the opposite side of the lake in
miniscule amounts of time, theorists believe should have taken eons of time.
I believe that God in His wisdom and power used the lava and tidal wave to
prove to man what He could do in miliseconds. Most evolutionists try to
stay away from all that happened around Mt. St.Helen.
The material about the eruption and what it did is fascinating. Perhaps,
God is telling the scientific world not to leave Him out of their theories,
or perhaps just using these things to get their attention.

3). God, through Moses, used very explicit language about "creation" in
Genesis 1. It mentions living things, that hath life, etc.
Without life, as we know it today, could there be death? In my opinion, no
..
If chapter one refers to Lucifer and the fallen angels, they were/are
eternal beings that will never know death.

I hope that mirror lake is the correct name of the lake destroyed by the
volcano. I tried to check first, but didn't find it.

God bless,
