Bro. Sterrett, The churches you described could have been a couple of
churches i know about in So. CA. Some Pastors seem to enjoy imposing
unecessary rules on people, but God will bring them to humility. I tell
these super righteous bros. and sisters, that if they are born again of
the water and spirit according to Acts 2:38, then they are my bor. and
sis. in Jesus, regardless of the different standards being imposed in
various assemblies. I feel sorry for some the dear sisters who husbands
treat them in a belittling way, because they have the "rule" over them,
almost treating them like servants instead of a wife!There will always
be differences in churches, but I couldn't follow a pastor who imposed
uncessary rules on his congrgation, boy won't they be surprised when we
hit glory and they see us walking streets of gold. i love these dear
people, but , they are wrong to impose super ridged standars on Gods'
