ARISE!
Looking at the first book of Job, we find a man named
Job that lived in a land named Uz. The first verse goes on to
say he was perfect and upright, one that feared God, and
eschewed evil. From the second verse through to the
nineteenth verse we see that satan attacks Job from every
direction. What happens within these verses is that Job is told
within a very small amount of time that all his cattle is taken, his
servants are all slain, and all of his sons and daughter were
killed by a roof falling in on them. In chapter two we see Job
stricken with boils all over his body. The biggest blow of them
all was to have his wife come to him and say, "curse God and
die!" She gave up hope for Job.
Many people today get mad at God for letting such
events happen in their lives. They feel God is not being fair to
them or that he is not protecting them. Note that Job was as the
verses say, a perfect and upright man. He was more than likely
a better man than most of us today. When it came to wordily
things, Job was very rich, he was well off and had a loving wife
and many kids. He was a model citizen of his time.
Here we have this model citizen in the worst physical
situation possible. His friends had forsaken him, left him as a crazy
fool, his wife keeps telling him to curse God and die, everything
he owned was gone. According to all his critics, he was better
off giving up. He might as well sit there and let the world run its
course.
There will be times in our lives that we see as
comparable to Job's situation. I am writing this in hope of giving
an answer to the problem. Let's look at Job 1:20-21:
Job|1:20-21 Then Job arose, and rent his
mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down
upon the ground, and worshipped, And said,
Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and
naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and
the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the
name of the LORD.
Then Job AROSE! Remember at the beginning, Job
was an upright man. Satan knocked him down, and was looking
for a final blow. Instead of cursing God and dying, Job AROSE
and worshipped God! This is the answer to our problems today!
If you are sick, ARISE! If you are down, depressed, on the
verge of losing all hope, ARISE! If you are empty inside,
ARISE! Too many people stay down when Satan deals them a
blow, GET UP AND GET IN THE FIGHT! We are not defeated
until we give up on God. As long as God is on our side, Satan
has no hold on our life. ARISE!
