Currently, the list is *unmoderated*. Meaning the posts sent to H-F
just sail directly past us to the listproc and are distributed. We
get no advance *look* at a post before normal distribution.

That's why we're having to perform *damage control* right now. Or in the
case of discussion of H-F Netiquette guidelines and H-F Workshops, we're
trying to squeeze in a "gram" of prevention to get a "kilogram" of cure.
(Heh, heh, heh.... It's kinda fun to turn english measurements into
metric units of measure and see how the cliche's change.... "Give them
a millimeter and they take a kilometer..." is one of my other favorites)
Another reason for incentive to be a *self-moderated* group is that
slanderous and libelous material posted to a *moderated* list legally
makes the moderators accountable for what's distributed. With the thought
we have editorial control to stop or to allow a post to be distributed.
If something is libelous and slanderous, a moderator can be sued for material
posted if the posts requred an APPROVAL before distribution. If there's
slanderous or libelous material in a post with an unmoderated list, the
burden of posting isn't upon the moderators because they didn't control
the individual message distribtion like we could with a message-by-message
APPROVE or DISCARD of posts.
