I believe your pastor and mine are of the same ilk. He will pull, twist,
tug, push, and shove (gently, of course) to save a soul. He will forgive,
forgive, and forgive again (NOT forsaking pastorly correction), all the
while on his knees. He also has a knack for passing his attitudes and
behaviors on to his flock.

My pastor was a drill sargeant in the Army. We do not even *think* about
doing anything church-related unless we've spoken with him. (Have you ever
been on the wrong side of a drill sargeant? Fortunately, we'll never know
what that's like!)

Along the same lines, those of you in charge of ministries in your church
body (but not the actual pastor); are you *really* in charge?

I know nothing about church government outside of my own church. My pastor
is the Music Director, Outreach Director, Missions Director (you get the
idea). He certainly delegates and gives a certain amount of power to
department heads like me, but I don't ever feel that I am *in charge* to
the point of acting of my own accord.

My pastor trusts Jesus' Spirit to lead us, and he provides support. He also
acts as the "heavy" in any situation that involves the correction of a
saint. Is this how it is in your neck of the woods? I'm certainly content
with this arrangement and am in no way complaining (rather, I would call
this bragging! Please forgive if any of this offends.).
