Bearing Arms

I would also be interested in knowing people's positions on bearing "and 
using" arms.

I used to be of strong conviction that it wasn't right no matter what the 
circumstances. Last year, an incident occured where my wife and I 
(and a saints young child) were robbed in our garage at gunpoint.

After that incident, I sort of changed my stance on saints bearing arms 
under certain circumstances. Though I don't have one, I would not condemn 
someone else who does have one for protection.

It has been said in some churches that "Thou shalt not kill" does in fact 
refer to premeditated and malicious murder/manslaughter, and DOES NOT 
apply to a self-defense situation. I would tend to agree with the latter, 
though I still prefer not to carry any type of weapon. I do know of some 
preachers in the larger cities who do carry guns, and even some (outside 
our faith) who carry them in the pulpit.

I know people will disagree with me on this, but remember, you have to 
consider circumstances...Peter bore arms!
