Our Church celebrates Communion two times each year: once on New Year's Eve
and once at Resurrection Sunday sunrise. I always look forward to Communion
services, but try to prepare myself about a month in advance (Paul's warnings
really get to me).
It seems that the Lord's blessings are always present when His people remember
His death. Most of the time we seem to focus on the gloriousness of the
resurrection of Christ and the triumphal victory over death, Hell and the grave.
But, I cannot help but feel that the remembrance of His passion is critical
in enjoying the true victory of His being raised from the dead.
I always look forward to the sunrise Communion service the most because we
go into the prayer room around 5.30 when it is still dark, and we pray as
the sun rises outside of the East window. Our pastor gives a short sermon,
and each attendant testifies about the meaning of Christ's death, burial
and resurrection in their lives. Last year we had tongues interpretation,
and it was beautiful.
After the sun rises, we move to the sanctuary where we take the Lord's supper.
The Holy Ghost always moves in a special way as we commune with Christ through
His broken body and shed blood.
I am sorry if I ramble so.
All Honour to Christ Jesus,
Matthew Shaw
