REGARDING re> Apostolic web page
DR>I'm looking at the Web-site right now, forgive me for analysing, but the
DR>first thing I noticed was this:
Sister, if you're a saint, and I have no reason to doubt you are, you can
analyse all you want. After all, you're analysing what that church says
it believes, IOW, their doctrine. I John 4:1, "Beloved, believe not every
spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many FALSE
PROPHETS are gone out into the world."
I have written them for a set of by-laws. We'll see if anything is
returned...
>"Come and hear the world's foremost minister, Bible analyst and
>authority on the divinely inspired Word of God, Bishop SHELTON
>Rapha Chabash Luke."
>Anyway it mentiones a couple of times the "House of SHELTON"
>it also says that the wives of the Elders are to be
>called "Ladies" and "Princess".
(don't forget "Dukes" and "Duchesses", :=( , succession of church
leadership by virtue of "legitimate" birth!)
>The head of the House of Shelton who is also the Blessedness
>and General Overseer.....(??)
(never did see the word "pastor" in there anywhere...)
>"Our daughter, Mariana Hephzibah, in her lifetime shall
>continue to enjoy the distinction of "First Lady", her Serene Highness
>and First Princess. No titles of any wives or daughters or descendents shall
>be higher than hers at any time." (???)
>This whole thing is signed by "His Holy Apostolic Blessedness".
>The other group is out of Washington D.C. and is called "The Whole Truth
>Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith" This group is
>unique, in that, in its services they only listen to tapes of the late
>bishop Johnson. (!!!!!)
If a friend of mine were to ask me about going to a church that had all of the
above, and more, going on, I would tell them to run, don't walk,
away from that church. One simply can't paper this over with words like
"sub-culture." What you see above isn't a mere organizational
mechanism for aiding the spread of the gospel. If you aren't sure, try
making the following equation:
His Holy Apostolic Blessedness = Superintendent.
I don't see an equivalency...
>In spite of the different worlds we walk in, and the difficulty we have in
>understanding attitudes expressed in some organization, I deeply respect
>some of these men. Others, it turns out, were in it only for personal glory.
>But that is true in our own movement
That's not a justification. If someone in your denomination is advocating
that
kind of doctrine, they should be made aware of their faulty doctrine. The
doctrine
on that web page is plain nuts.
LG>My goodness, Satan himself was cast out of heaven for exalting
LG>himself over God. This seem pretty close. =(
I'm with you, sister. This is way too close...
I don't mean to be harsh to anyone on this list. I don't see how an
apostolic church could countenance that kind of doctrine or how we can
just see the above and just say "no big deal."
In His name,
Brother Steven Sanabria
