I had a CT scan done on my head Saturday night in the ER department,
the results of which showed I had sinusitis for which the doctor
prescribed some amoxicillan for me.

You might ask "You didn't have a $1000 CT scan done just to diagnose a
head cold, did you Richard?" Well, I was burning some brush out behind
my house and some bozo apparently threw a spray paint can into the
pile. I was watching the nice bonfire with my brother when *boom*
something exploded, my official Central Data baseball cap is flying off
of my head, and wet stuff is gushing from my forehead. I tell my
brother to douse the fire and I run into the house to check out the
damage. It's bad enough that a trip to the hospital is necessary.
It's Saturday night in Urbana/Champaign and I'm conscious, so I'm about
number three on the list to see a doctor. The CT scan is done to make
sure I don't have a chunk of metal in my brain. The injury is deemed
"superficial" and the oral-maxillofacial surgeon on call sews my skin
back on with ugly blue thread, perfect for Halloween. Some of the
younger kids in church yesterday morning actually cried and ran to
their parents when they saw me -- it's that ugly. And I'm supposed to
leave it uncovered so it will stay dry.

Anyway, thank the Lord the injury isn't much worse. Less than two
inches lower and I would've been missing an eye. Perhaps at a
different angle and I might be recovering from emergency surgery on my
skull at this point. Amen.
