I could always blame that on a an automatic spell-checker on all my
outgoing mail that knew that "dr" was an abbreviation for either
doctor or drive, and hence inserted that period gratuitously ;-)

Really though, I am not a full blooded Texan: my father was, but my
mother was a Cajun.  I like to eat crawfish with my Dr Pepper too!

BTW "crawfish" is pronounced with the "aw" sounding like "aw" as in
"maw and paw", not like the "eh?" of an older person hard of hearing.
