<< So we are all oneness people, correct?
Well let's hear how you define Salvation. Give Scripture that shows
salvation is for today. And we all know the 2nd Chapter of Acts, so try
some other scriptures. >>
Well, here is a letter I posted in a non-denominational "Christian" forum.
(keep in mind that this was written to trinitarians, so it has some comments
to them--it doesn't apply to us One-God, Jesus-name Believers) I could add a
lot to it, but I'll just send this.....Sis. Jan (P.S. My next post will
show a letter written to trinitarians defending One God beliefs.)
<<It says in I Peter 3:18 "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the
just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the
flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 19. By which also he went and preached
unto the spirits in prison; 20. Which sometime were disobedient, when once
the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a
preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were SAVED BY WATER. 21. The
LIKE FIGURE whereunto even BAPTISM DOTH ALSO NOW SAVE US (not the putting
away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward
God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ"
Jesus himself spoke in Mark 16:15 "Go ye into all the world, and preach the
gospel to every creature. 16. He that BELIEVETH AND IS BAPTIZED shall be
saved; but he that believeth not shall be damed. 17. And these signs shall
follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall
speak with new tongues; etc.
In Luke the same passage is recorded: Luke 24:46 And said unto them, "Thus
it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the
dead the third day: 47. And that repentance and remission of sins should be
preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48. And ye
are witnesses of these things."
Now according to Matthew 16:18-19 Jesus gave the keys of the kingdom of
heaven to Peter..."Whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in
heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
I don't understand why so many "Christians" argue against the teaching that
Peter gave on the day of Pentecost in the 2nd chapter of Acts. He used those
"keys" to open the door of salvation to the Jews (and Gentiles in the rest of
the book of Acts)
Repentance and remission of sins was preached in His name beginning at
Jerusalem in the 2nd Chapter of Acts. Why is that so hard to understand?
Jesus said in the 3rd Chapter of John 3:5 "Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
Except a man be born of water and spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of
God."
When you repent you die out to the old flesh. When you die, you have to be
buried. Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death:
that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father,
even so we also should walk in newness of life. How can we be buried with
Him if we don't have His name on our grave??
That newness of life is the spirit of God given to us as the Holy Ghost. Is
this so hard to understand and have to argue against.
Some may say that the scripture in Mark doesn't say anything about being
damned if you're are not baptized. But really; if you have any sense at all
it goes without saying that if you don't believe you're not going to get
baptized anyways....
All I can say is I'm not going to argue against the one who was an
"eyewitness to Jesus Christ" and had the "keys" to the kingdom of heaven!!!
