Thanks for this great illustration! The Davis', D.D. and Doug are my
pastors, as we came from that church to plant this work here in
Milford CT. I can say without reservation, these are some of the
finest christian men I have ever met, and will allow this abundant
praise to reach over into the lives of thier wives, Sister Betty Davis
and Sister Vicki Davis.

As many people would say about their pastors, D.D Davis and Doug Davis
represent Jesus Christ to me in a way that I cannot find any seam in..
They have done a fine work in building an exciting and truth filled
church just outside of NYC which is running over 400 lately. Not a
small accomplishment.

Not only is Bro Doug Davis a very fine songwriter, choir leader,
producer, teacher, instrumentalist (he also has one of the finest, and
most expressive voices in Pentecost, along with Sis. Vicki), but this
is the second generation of this talent. "Old Timers" will remember
the David Trio of the elder generation, who were quite well known at
the time that Sister Janet Trout and the Urshan's were recording.

We could list MANY MANY extraordinarilly talented Apostolic people. In
fact, it is said in all circles that the UPC has the finest musicians
there are. However it does seem that worldy fame and the music
business is utterly incompatable with Christian living and gospel
work. I have relatives in the "music business" and see the problems in
maintaining a witness while coming and going in this shady world of
many pseudo-christians.

However, there seems to have come a time for each of these men, where
the "oppportunities" in the music world were put forever away, and a
choice was made to pursue the ministry of the word and a specific work
for God in a local setting. Doug could really have done whatever he
wanted in the music business..=20

I feel like Tim Pedigo also has ENORMOUS POTENTIAL. I know some
others. I wonder if we appreciate the sacrifices these people make to
remain on course for God. Its a real choice, when you have REAL
talent. god Bless them, and other young people who choose to use their
talents for God under proper guidance and ministry. Too many people
rationalize that any religious music is done "for God". Doug Davis has
fought and with the strength of God, won many battles to secure and
maintain a powerful witness.. bear in mind, most of us will never
appreciate the extend to which the enemy works to take the talented
people out of circulation. We need to pray for them, and commend the
winners! All of God's people are winners, but not all have the type of
struggle that musicians do. As the thread has revealed, many loose
that battle without discipline or love for truth. (we could say MUCH
more, but it would be excess)

We have to mention the Carol McGruder family, and the band.. These
folks are the only ones I really know who continue to be true to the
doctrine and standards of living while extensively traveling in
circles that professional christian musicians track.
