What is salvation to you?
This was the question I sent out to a handful of people awhile
back. At first, the response was weak, so I resent it to another group
of
people. After a few weeks and a long wait, answers started to trickle in.
I
finally accumulated 16 replies. I thank all who contributed and their
efforts to help me out in this interesting look at salvation.
The reason for asking this question is honestly unknown. It
popped in my head one day and the idea of asking it over e-mail
developed. I do not know the degree of different beliefs that are
accounted for in the replies. I truly hope that this effort I have put
forth
has a reason and does shed light on the question, what is salvation to
you?
The following result of the question is set up in a <clip> set up. What
I
mean is, I did not post the whole answer to the question from each
individual. I clipped out what I felt to be a great addition to the
whole. If
for any reason you feel the need to see the whole answer from a person or
the whole group of replies, feel free to E-mail me at: acts2.38@juno.com
and ask for the what is salvation to you replies. So with all this in
mind,
here is the results of the question, what is salvation to you? :
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"A fourfold operation..it saves you from the penalty, power, presence,
and
most important, the pleasure of sin.."
---Jesusfreak7
"Hear the Gospel, Believe the Gospel, Obey the Gospel, Confess with your
Mouth The LORD JESUS, Repent ,Turn, and Cleave Unto The LORD, Be
Baptized (Immersed) In The Name Of JESUS CHRIST, Call Upon The
Name Of The Lord, Receive The Gift Of The Holy Ghost with Tongues,
Share Your Experience With Others, Live A Consistent Holy Life With
JESUS CHRIST."
---Leroy
"Salvation is having to the fullest and not just existing in a world full
of
sin and despair....Salvation is the gift of God through Jesus Christ our
Lord. (Rom.6:23) It is deliverance, soundness, safety and
ease....Salvation
gives us power and dominion over sin....Salvation is freely offered to
all
men bus is conditioned upon repentance and faith in Christ (John 3:16;
Heb.2:3)....Salvation proceeds from the love of God, is based upon
forgiveness, regeneration, and sanctification and culminates in the
resurrection and glorification of all true believers..."
---LadyCulpepper
"Salvation- to deliver from the effects of sin. the agent or means that
effects salvation. preservation from destruction or failure deliverance
from danger or difficulty. Matthew 1:21 and thou shalt call his name
Jesus because He shall save His people from their sins. Jesus means
Jehovah is become my salvation."
---Brian
"The act of living a holy and Godly life....if I can't live the life
after
repentance and baptism, then I haven't been filled with the guiding
spirit
of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."
---Elaine
"Salvation is *intimately* knowing a personal God who loved me enough
to die for me, live in me, and prepare a place for me where I can be with
Him for eternity."
---Gia
"I believe Acts 2:38 is only the beginning of a long race which
eventually
will lead into salvation. I believe that we are not saved until we reach
the
Pearly Gates....salvation is an amalgamation of things you do coupled
with
things God does for you if you have faith enough to believe in them and
faith enough to live accordingly for the rest of your life. Faithfulness,
consistency, endurance....that will cause Jesus to someday say "enter in
though good and faithfull servant."
---Doris
"Salvation to me is being delivered from my corruptable flesh. How? By
being obedient to God."
---Michael
"Salvation to me means saved...From what (some have asked)?
Deliverance from sin and the penalties that come with it..."
---Barbara
"I have been saved from the fires of hell and I have eternal life in
heaven
With jesus."
---Rich
"Salvation implies that we are saved from something...We are saved when
we indure to the end, ie:Matthew 24.22...this word saved in most New
Testament scriptures was spelled in Greek, SUDEZO which is
PRESERVED/CHOSEN in the Engligh language...a person is not really
saved until theY are through with all the trials and tribulations of this
life.
If they turn aside in the mean time, how can they be saved?"
---Dos-User
"Living a christian life to the best of your ability so that you will
have
everlasting life."
---Donna
"salvation is a very different prospect from "deliverance," which is what
most people confuse it with...When we repent, are baptized, etc. that
delivers us from the past life we had of sin...That is
deliverance...Salvation
is remembering to continue to consult God for help once we have been
delivered....We are not "saved" until we reach the pearly gates."
---Anneliese
"Salvation to me is the fact that my whole life has been changed...I no
longer want to do the things that I once loved to do, because I know that
they do not please God. How do I know this? This is the heart of
salvation!
---Brenda
"Salvation is believing in Jesus. Believing in the gospel message as it
is
presented in the four gospels."
---Harold
"...has to do with submitting every area of your life to God. Committing
yourself to spend time in prayer and Bible reading every day. If you are
in
submission to Him and His word, you will be living a life above sin,
obviously that is a life that is pleasing to Him."

Thank you all who contributed to this little project. It was interesting
reading the responses and hope you all found them interesting too!
Oh!!! What is salvation to me you ask?? Well, I look at it this way...
Note the word salvation does not mean "saved." It is the "saving" of a
person from sin or its consequences. "saving" is present tense. I feel
being "saved" is when we walk through the gates of Heaven. The "saving"
is what God does after we follow His word on deliverence from
this evil world( ie. Acts2:38).
So what is "saving" or "salvation" to me? God leading us through the
storm of life and showing us the right road to follow. This leads us to
being
Holy, which is one thing we -must- be in order to enter into Heaven.
Salvation is freely given to all, BUT we must open up to it through the
following of God's word, and through a life of prayer, fasting, and
commitment.
God Bless..!
