You're right, the office of a prophet isn't for everyone, but you are wrong
in saying that the only job of the prophet is for fortell the future or speak
divine revelations.

The "gift" of prophecy is what you're talking about, but the office of 
"prophet" can be more clearly defined as "pastor" of the flock.
