This is true, but that's why Job's actions are so frustrating.  It's
the Mac Clone manufacturers which have brought those prices down, and
Job is telling them "We're not interested in you anymore."

Processor speed isn't everything, y'know :-)

The engineering group I'm in is constantly evaluating differing CPU's
to replace the AMD processors we currently use in most of our
products.  These are clones of Intel processors (until we sold the SBC
part of our business, Intel was one of our major competitors).  We've
evaluated the PPC, and found it to be wanting.  It has some very
serious bottlenecks in I/O processing.  Since we do I/O products, this
limitation is a Very Bad Thing.
