Is anybody else confused?

Backup to another system is called "mirroring", and it is quite valid.
If you are running DOS or Win95, I would suggest that you make a big
zip file out of the stuff you want to mirror, and then copy that zip
file over the network to the other machine.  That will make it
automatic to get everything back in its original directory if you have
to do a restore: just copy the zip file back to your machine and then
unzip it.  Zip will also compress your files so they tie up less of
your husband's disk space.
