No Tongues in 13 Years

While we are on the subject of speaking in tongues as
the evidence of the infilling of the Holy Ghost, I have a
question. Are tongues also *continued* evidence that we are still
filled with the Holy Ghost? My reason for asking, is that
in the past two years I have become good friends with a
Sister who moved to our area from another church. She is faithful
in her prayer life and lives a Holy life. Several months ago she
confided to me that she has not spoken in tongues since she
received the Holy Ghost over 13 years ago. She asked me what I
thought about her statement. I really didn't know *what* to say at first.
After some thought, I asked her how she felt about it. She said that
she has quit "beating herself up" over the lack of tongues in her life
and that "if God wanted her to speak in tongues, she would".
My prayer life is so important to me. It would literally almost scare
me to death if just a day or two went by that I did not speak/pray
in tongues. I have stressed to my nine year old daughter on
several occasions how important it is for her to stay "prayed through"
to the Holy Ghost. I believe the same Spirit that is in us, is what is
going to take us out of here. If one hasn't spoken in tongues in 13 years
would their "tank" (or oil lamp as in the Parable of the Virgins ) be
empty? Would they just be running on Holy Ghost fumes?
I am interested in hearing what y'all think.
